Mr. Gabelli is a global value investor with over three decades of experience focused on micro-cap and special situations investing across public and private markets.
Since 1990, he has managed investment strategies spanning hedge funds, mutual funds, and alternative vehicles, with a long-standing emphasis on event-driven, merger arbitrage, and global value opportunities. Mr. Gabelli has managed several Morningstar five-star funds in the U.S. and Canada, including a Lipper #1-ranked global equity fund.
Mr. Gabelli is Vice Chairman and President of Gabelli Group Capital Partners (GGCP), the parent holding company for a diversified platform of listed investment management, industrial, defense, and telecommunications businesses, including GAMCO Investors, Associated Capital Group, Teton Advisors, and Gabelli Merger Plus Trust plc.
He is also Chairman of Alpha G, an investment platform focused on alternative and opportunistic strategies, including merger arbitrage, private and hybrid capital structures, and thematic investments. Through Alpha G and Gabelli & Partners, he manages capital across hedge fund, co-investment, and bespoke institutional mandates.
As both an investor and owner-operator, Mr. Gabelli has been actively involved in capital formation, restructurings, and corporate strategy across micro-cap companies in the U.S. and Europe, including IPOs, private placements, spin-offs, rights offerings, and M&A transactions. He founded and built Gabelli & Partners and helped expand the firm’s international footprint, including establishing operations in London and Tokyo.
Mr. Gabelli began his career at Lehman Brothers International in equity research and special situations. He holds degrees from Boston College, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Harvard University.
