Del Gatto Capital Group is the leading non-bank, collateral-backed lender to the global diamond and jewelry industry, with offices in London and New York. The firm was founded in 2018 by Christopher Del Gatto, CEO, and R. Andres Lucas, CCO. Chris is a Graduate Gemologist, a former diamond cutter and a co-founder of CIRCA, with more than 30 years in the diamond trade. Andres brings over 25 years in hedge funds and alternative asset management. Through the Del Gatto Finance Group, the firm provides short-term financing to established diamond and jewelry wholesalers. This addresses a persistent financing gap left by bank retrenchment from the sector. Loans are structured as roughly six-month sale-and-repurchase agreements under English law, at conservative loan-to-values. Del Gatto takes legal title to and physical possession of the collateral. The collateral, which includes investment-grade natural diamonds, fine jewelry and luxury watches, is independently valued and held in institutional custody at Ferrari Express.
