Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the United Arab Emirates
In 2014, Gilbert Boustany was appointed as an Ambassador-at-Large and Consul General of Antigua and Barbuda in Miami, Florida. In his position, diaspora relations and attracting foreign direct investment are of paramount importance.
To further diplomatic relations and development objectives of the government, Ambassador Boustany carries out his consular functions in his jurisdiction while attracting foreign direct investment into Antigua and Barbuda to enable and facilitate the freedom of opportunity for all citizens to participate in the country's growth and development. Further, Ambassador Boustany constantly seeks grant aid to ensure that education and health care are available to every citizen in Antigua and Barbuda.
Ambassador Boustany was appointed as Antigua and Barbuda’s non-resident Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates in 2017, then as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the United Arab Emirates in 2022. He has been actively promoting Antigua and Barbuda recognizing that The United Arab Emirates is the financial hub of the Middle East. This endeavor presents many opportunities for identifying and attracting foreign direct investment from the entire MENA region, whilst utilizing Miami as a hub to serve Antigua and Barbuda and the wider Caribbean as a whole, creating a win, win, win for trade and investment in all three regions.
Ambassador Boustany was appointed as Dean of the Consular Corps in Miami, Florida, in 2018. In his capacity, he continues to foster cordial relations with members of the Consular Corps as well as the State, local government officials and U.S. Federal officials within his consular district. Ambassador Boustany is a firm believer that all solutions can be found with dialogue, especially if you have a personal relationship with your colleagues.
Born and raised in Antigua and Barbuda, Ambassador Boustany was educated in Antigua and Barbuda, the United Kingdom of Great Britain, and in Miami, Florida, USA. Ambassador Boustany is therefore well positioned for his roles as, over the period of his adult life, he became friends with individuals from all corners of the earth. Therefore, he has access to a network of friends and colleagues spanning the globe.
Before joining the Foreign Service of Antigua and Barbuda, Ambassador Boustany was in the real estate development and investment businesses. To date, he is still actively engaged in both in Antigua and Barbuda.
For recreation, Ambassador Boustany enjoys the ocean where he finds tranquility. However, even more than being on the ocean, what truly makes him happy is giving and lending a helping hand to others who are in need. Especially when his benevolence assists in improving the life of someone else.
