E.J. Kavounas is an executive with over two decades of experience in real estate acquisitions, financing, and development. He is a partner at East Beach Capital, an Opportunity Zone Fund that developed and owns The Kittredge, a 169-unit mixed-use property in Berkeley, California. He owns other apartment projects in Los Angeles and invests in real estate bridge loans. Prior to this, he worked for 15 years in investment banking, including at Credit Suisse in Los Angeles, where he was a Managing Director. He has closed over $10 billion worth of transactions, having financed all major asset classes across the country. Earlier he was an Associate at Houlihan Lokey in Los Angeles.

He holds an MBA from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a BA from Middlebury College. In addition to his professional achievements, he is an advisor to Caltech Connection which supports community college undergrads through mentorship opportunities with Caltech grad students.
