Adam Berns

Principal - Berns Properties
Managing Partner - Lakeside Capital Group

Adam Berns is a real estate developer and investor specializing in large-scale projects at the complex end of the market — Opportunity Zone structuring, Builder's Remedy entitlements, and ground-up development in highly regulated environments. He began his career as a corporate attorney at Latham & Watkins, a background he draws on directly in his development work.

As Managing Partner of Lakeside Capital Group, Adam is leading a fully entitled 299-unit mixed-use multifamily development in Clearfield, Utah — adjacent to Hill Air Force Base — structured as a Qualified Opportunity Zone Fund with a total development cost exceeding $85 million. The project is shovel-ready with Greystar engaged for property management. Adam is also positioning a large contiguous land tract under the newly enacted OZ 2.0 provisions, giving Lakeside a two-phase OZ platform in one of the Mountain West's most active growth markets.

Adam is a principal of Berns Properties, a Silicon Valley real estate family office with over 50 years of operating history, where he has expanded the firm from its commercial retail roots into large-scale residential development. His Builder's Remedy projects encompass over 1,600 single-family homes across Santa Clara County — he was the first developer to file a Builder's Remedy application in the county and is currently litigating an active case, giving him firsthand command of both the legal framework and the political terrain.

Adam holds a B.A. in Economics with distinction from Stanford University and a J.D. and MBA from UCLA.
